PREGNANCY

Gentle and specific pregnancy chiropractic care is not only safe, but essential for both mother and child.

If there is ever just one time in a woman’s life when she should receive chiropractic care, it would absolutely be during pregnancy. Not only is her body in charge of maintaining the health of two people, but additionally, a multitude of physiological and hormonal changes occur during pregnancy in preparation for creating the optimal environment for the developing baby

Though Mother Nature knows best, quite often the increased physical and emotional demands of being pregnant can be stressful.

The typical thirty to forty pound weight gain leads to postural distortions and changes in the center of gravity. The natural curves of the spine become exaggerated leading to misaligned vertebrae, pinched nerves, tight muscles and back pain. Pressure of the growing baby on the pelvis, difficulty in finding a comfortable sleeping position, nausea and fatigue make for a very exhausted mommy. Often they wonder, “How much longer can I stand this?”

Rather than feeling like you’ll just have to “deal with it,” why not make those precious nine months and beyond an extraordinarily healthy experience?

Webster Technique

Having adjusted hundreds of expectant moms, as a specialist in Prenatal care and being certified in Webster Technique, Dr. Tara Dhanasar is Ajax’s expert in pregnancy chiropractic. Webster Technique which is a chiropractic procedure used to correct subluxations in the pregnant mother’s sacrum and pelvis. Uterine constraint is caused by the tightening of pelvic muscles and ligaments. During pregnancy, it is these tense muscles and ligaments and their constraining effect on the uterus which prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the vertex (head first) position. This condition is called “in-uterine constraint” or more commonly known as "breach position." This chiropractic adjustment relaxes the mother’s muscles and ligaments, thus promoting normal baby positioning and provides the physiological environment necessary for normal baby positioning.

With both Dr. Tara and Dr. Tessa specialized training and experience, gentle chiropractic care offered at Live Well Family Chiropractic corrects spinal misalignments, relieves joint pain, reduces muscle spasm, re-establishes flexibility, enhances nerve system function, as well as decreases time in labor and delivery.
